Testimonials

"We had the opportunity to visit with Holly and Linda Lewis Raney this weekend at the The NESTS . . . FABULOUS!! Every single bit of it. Just far enough outside of Oxford, MS to be peaceful yet luxurious with the amenities and comforts."

"I spent an excellent stay in the Nest, charming BnB in the countryside, surrounded by a forest view. Ideal for those who would like to recharge your batteries in a quiet area for a few days. Nice accommodation and owners very warm. Very nice facilities with lots of character...I strongly recommend it!"

"We stayed in the roost for our honeymoon. "Charming" doesn't even begin to describe it! The hosts were incredibly gracious, the grounds were well kept and beautiful, and the location was absolutely serene. The interior of our space was very comfortable and was decorated just right. Everything fit with the old country/chicken theme, but it was not kitschy at all. The pool was beautiful and perfect for those hot September afternoons. We were also surprised to have several cats join us during our pool time! All in all we were treated very well and would recommend it 100%!"

"Stayed here in February for a family members birthday party. About 15 minutes drive to Oxford. As a guest house experience, gorgeous surrounds, serene atmosphere and offered at competitive rates."

"Here for a visit to relax and rejuvenate in the quaint town of Oxford. I see the horses every morning with my cup of tea from the porch. The rooms and living room are decorated to perfection with an amazing attention to detail. They are pet-friendly, attentive to international visitors (according to my French and English friends) and well worth the trip!"

We stayed with the Raney's this past weekend. Our family gathered from different areas to celebrate my brother's wedding. Collectively, we stayed in the Nest Egg, as well as Empty Nest. The Nest Egg was beautifully appointed, with attention to detail in every decoration. The hosts were accommodating, checking in each day. My family (2yr old, 5 mo old, myself and husband) stayed in the double queen room. A pack and play was supplied for our baby, and though cozy, the room was adequate to meet our needs for the weekend. The BnB does need some baby-proofing if you have young kids, but they will likely spend much of their time enjoying running outside on the ample grounds, checking out the horses and chickens, and swinging on the huge porch swing. The Barn at the end of the road is also a beautiful space. Thank you for a great family weekend, Linda and Holly!"

"The grounds are really beautiful. We have stayed for game weekends before, but it was really great for a romantic getaway also. The Nest Egg house is very spacious and looks like it's out of a magazine, but I prefer the Roost. It's an odd space, attached to their tractor shed, but it has a lot of privacy and is very quirky and fun. It's in the country and we enjoyed having coffee while watching the horses graze. We didn't swim in the pool, but it was nice to sit next to."

"Very nice place to get away and relax. This house is one of the best decorated and built rentals I've stayed at. Everything shows much thought and quality. Each bedroom had a private bath with shower. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens. We enjoyed the porches and walking the grounds. This place has everything you'll need in a weekend getaway!"

"We stayed at The Empty Nest cottage and found the place to be relaxing and charming. It is marvelously decorated in an idyllic setting with horses, cats, and friendly pups. The great room/common area (if you don't rent the entire cottage) has a comfortable sitting area facing a big screen wall mount television, large dining table, and beautiful kitchen area. Each beautiful and immaculately clean bedroom has its own bathroom, microwave, refrigerator and television as well. Our bedroom had a private entrance and its own porch. On our last evening, we mentioned planning to go to see Ole Miss play baseball, and Mr. Raney got us box seats from a friend so that we sat behind first base. What a great place to stay and worth every penny."

"The guest house is attached at one end of the owner's home on lovely acreage. Separate entrance with private, decked, dining area and view of their horses. We were greeted by two friendly dogs and a barn cat. The guest house has two good size bedrooms and a tiny, cozy den with a comfy reading chair. Unusual bathroom setting (one with toilet and sink, second with tub/shower and sink) but good fit for the space. This area was originally designed for family living so might not be appropriate if traveling with friends. The owners adjust the rate if you use only the one bedroom which is a nice gesture. Very nice bedding and comfy beds. Country quiet. You can hear the owners move about some, but it is not intrusive. There was a raging thunderstorm the night we were there and we enjoyed the 'acoustics' of the charming metal roof. There is a pool available to guests. We will stay there again."

"Loved it!! We loved staying here!! Our child is a senior at Ole Miss and this is our favorite place to stay so far! The house is charming, gracious, well appointed representation of the proprietors. Every detail is meticulously and beautifully thought through. It is not far from the university or the square at all but feels as if you are miles and miles away in the country! Do find it the first time in daylight; makes it a little easier."

- Susan M

"Unbelievable! What a place! We went for our third child's graduation and had relatives coming from Texas & Georgia as well as throughout Mississippi and we all stayed here. We drove home to Bay St. Louis today and the whole way we received phone calls from our family ranting and raving about the Nest Egg and when could we return! This is a special, and memorable place run by people who care to put on the best! WE WILL BE BACK!"

"Birthday Weekend. Our stay at Nest Egg was perfect. The setting would suit a variety of activities, including couples football weekends. We arrived for a weekend birthday celebration for our son, a student at Ole Miss. We were warmly greeted and instantly felt at home. Beautifully appointed cottage, with all the touches of a 5 star resort, all or our needs were met and exceeded, with grace and style. Trips into town via Molly Bar Road, were quick and easy. Date night at McEwens was delicious and breakfast at BB's is always worth the wait. We HIGHLY recommend this property, it will always be our first choice and we are already planning a return stay!!"

"Perfection! Can't wait to go back. The Kitchen is lovingly outfitted with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The table kept us sitting and talking and enjoying each others company and the beds were comfy. I highly recommend it."

"By far the best BnB I've stayed at, anywhere! Absolutely beautiful setting, first class amenities, privacy, utter relaxation. I wish we could have stayed longer, and will definitely be back soon."

"Charming getaway with all the amenities!! We had a wonderful time and felt very pampered in the lovely three bedroom cottage this past weekend. The house is exquisitely decorated in a style of comfort and taste, surrounded by shade trees, and a wrap around porch that overlooks the grounds and the nearby pasture. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom/ coffee maker in addition to the full kitchen and gathering area in the center of the house. I was delighted to drink my morning tea, while sitting on the porch watching the horses gallop by in the pasture . Holly and Linda have created a special place that anyone would enjoy... Just an hour from Memphis, close to Oxford, it is the perfect location and a breathtaking setting. The next time I come, I hope to have time to roam the grounds and enjoy the pool!!"

"Five star bungalow. This Cottage was a nice getaway for our family vacation. Dad enjoyed the scenery of wildlife such as waking up to deer, geese and horses. Linda thought the service was exceptional and plan on coming back without the kids. Kendra loved the fresh coffee. Tangie like the beautiful décor. We chose this place to have a weekday vacation and boy did it exceed our expectations. It was beautiful. This cottage gets five (5) stars. Nice job Linda and Holly!"
